The Foundation Series
Why do we require a foundation class to start?
Understanding CORe Principles: Pilates focuses on core strength, alignment, and controlled breathing. In an intro class, students learn that these fundamental principles are essential for avoiding injury and maximizing benefits.
Familiarizing with Equipment: If it’s a studio-based Pilates class, new students are introduced to equipment like the Reformer, Cadillac, or mat props. The intro class helps them feel comfortable and confident using these tools.
Building Awareness: Pilates emphasizes body awareness, posture, and mindful movement. In an introductory class, students develop the mental focus to engage the right muscles and maintain correct alignment during exercises.
Customized Modifications: Instructors can assess the student's fitness level and offer modifications or adjustments that cater to their needs, ensuring a safer and more effective practice from the start.
Setting Expectations: Intro classes often set realistic expectations regarding the pace and intensity of Pilates, helping new students understand what they can achieve with consistent practice.
